Europe : New agreement ensures that in the near future Danes will be able to see excerpts from TV2’s news programmes on a new generation of mobile phones from 3 – the first company in Denmark to supply mobile video communication.

The agreement between TV2 and 3 means that Danes purchasing one of 3’s new telephones will be able to access video news and TV clips on their mobile handset – whenever and wherever they want.

”Our customers will have access to the most important elements of TV2’s daily news updates and services, as well as selected sports and financial information. 3 have chosen to work with TV2 because the television company is renowned for their expertise and reliability. It is our ambition to sign agreements with partners who are experts in their own fields. And we have certainly achieved that ambition in this instance” states Christian Jørgensen, CEO of 3 Denmark.

“We are Denmark’s biggest TV station, and we want to be able to keep our viewers up to date even when they are not in front of a television or computer screen. That is why we are determined to get the best out of the new mobile opportunities UMTS technology opens up for. We are looking forward to a successful co-operation with 3 which will open new doors for TV2, even though it will take a number of years before video telephones enjoy the same level of market penetration as television” added TV2’s CEO Peter Parbo.

Live news around the clock
With 3G telephones it is possible for customers to access high quality live news broadcasts when it suits them. A simple click on the TV2 logo on 3’s mobile portal on the handset will allow users to choose from a list of the most popular services that are currently available on tv2.dk. Users can also subscribe to other services, for example pop-up news, which will automatically appear, should there be a major story breaking. Thus it will be increasingly convenient to keep up with events both national and international, wherever one may be.
