Samsung Galaxy S4 App Contest - $800,000 Up for Grabs

2013 Apps Challenge for the Samsung Galaxy S4.

Samsung has announced its Smart App Challenge 2013 and is offering total prize money of $800,000 to the developers which build award winning apps for the Samsung Galaxy S4. There will be 10 lucky developers sharing the prize money as outlined below.

The apps will be built around Samsung’s Chord SDK ( software development kit ) and will be tied in to be sold via Samsung's Apps marketplace. Samsung introduced the competition last year which then focused on the Galaxy Note and the Galaxy Tab when the winning app was the shooting app "Gun & Blood".

As the developers entering the competition will use the Samsung Chord SDK they will need to focus on an app which functions between smartphones wirelessly with no need for a server or mobile network and take advantage of Samsung’s Group Play feature for multi-player games or sharing music and photos among users.

Developers need to enter their apps for consideration from 20th June to 31st August with the judges reviewing these during November. The winning developer will receive $200K, three runners up will get $100K each, and six developers will receive $50K each for coming third. The winners will also be considered for investment via Samsung’s venture capital division.
