The HTC Desire HD launched running on the older Android version (2.2), but was promised to be updated to Gingerbread. Well the time has now come with HTC confirming the OTA update for the HTC Desire HD is now available.
Those with SIM-Free versions of the Desire HD will receive a notification when the update is available and can download it using either WiFi or 3G. WiFi is recommended because the update is quite large in size, obviously those lucky enough to have unlimited mobile data can download the update via 3G.
Users who bought the mobile via specific network carries will have to wait for their operator to release the update. However, the good news for Vodafone users is that they have already made Gingerbread available to HTC Desire HD owners.
The update will bring a number of improvements to the Desire HD including an improved user-interface, better and faster text input, a new download manager and the capability to use NFC in the future, if you add compatible hardware.
