Europe Denmark : TDC is now ready to roll out Turbo 3G (HSDPA) on top of its existing 3G network. The expansion takes place so that Copenhagen and Odense as well as large cities on Zealand, Funen, and in Southern Denmark will gain access to Turbo 3G at the end of 2007. Aarhus, Aalborg, and the rest of the large Danish cities are expected to be ready for Turbo G3 at the end of the first quarter of 2008.

"With the upgrade to Turbo 3G, TDC has paved the way for the fully mobile broadband network. Customers with laptops can access the Internet with speeds similar to those they are used to at home and at work. If you have a cell phone supporting Turbo 3G, the higher speeds mean faster downloads of TV shows, music, and all the other content services offered by TDC to the cell phone," says Mads Middelboe ( inset ) , President of TDC Mobile.

With Turbo 3G, TDC now offers download speeds as high as 3 Mbps in the centers of Copenhagen, Odense, Aarhus, and Aalborg. In other Danish cities, speeds will be up to 1.5 Mbps. In the existing 3G network, the maximum download speed is 384 kbps.

"We expect that the business market will continue to be the driving force for data usage based on the desire for quick mobile access to company systems and the Internet," says Mads Middelboe.

With the planned expansion speed, 64 percent of the Danish population will gain access to Turbo 3G from TDC at the end of the first quarter of 2008. Turbo 3G will then be rolled out in line with the expansion of the 3G network so that at least 80 percent of the Danes will be covered at the end of 2008.
