Vodafone Licenses Roaming Client Software For 3G Deployment
8th May , 2006

US : PCTEL announced that Vodafone, the world's largest mobile service provider, selected PCTEL's Roaming Client software to be used as one of its 3G connectivity management software solutions. The Roaming Client facilitates connection to the Internet over different types of wireless networks.

PCTEL's Roaming Client software which includes support for HSDPA, UMTS, GPRS and Wi-Fi, has been customized to include Vodafone specific features, including local language variants and branded as Vodafone Mobile Connect. The Roaming Client will be deployed with Vodafone's "built-in" or embedded 3G Broadband offering.

"Great customers demand great products," said Biju Nair, Vice President and General Manager of PCTEL's Mobility Solutions Group. "We appreciate Vodafone's confidence in our product and we are excited about the future for our Roaming Client portfolio," added Nair.

Along with the Mobile Connect software, Vodafone has also licensed PCTEL's Central Configuration Server (CCS). PCTEL's CCS enables Vodafone to manage all the devices that are connected to its network to ensure that the software, firmware and device drivers for those devices are current. This reduces customer care issues and customer support costs.
