High-Linearity E-pHEMT MMIC Mixers for 3G Base Stations |

Europe : Agilent Technologies introduced a high-linearity, low-LO (local oscillator) power E-pHEMT (enhancement mode pseudomorphic high electron mobility transistor) MMIC (microwave monolithic integrated circuit) active mixer designed to meet the critical performance requirements of BTS (base transceiver station) 3G base station radio cards and other point-to-point and point-to-multipoint microwave radio link applications. The Agilent IAM-93516 high-linearity mixer is a new addition to Agilent's portfolio of mixers. It combines high linearity with the industry's lowest LO drive requirement, low power consumption and broad operating frequency range. It operates with RF and LO frequency inputs from 400 to 3000 MHz and an IF output extending from 70 to 300 MHz. The IAM-93516 operates from a single 5 VDC supply, consuming only 110 mA typical. It provides greater than +23 dBm third-order input intercept point (IIP3), +19.3 dBm linear power output (P1dB), 9 dB conversion gain and 11.6 dB noise figure (all typical). LO-to-IF, LO-to-RF and RF-to-IF isolation are each greater than 20 dB. In a typical application (1.91 GHz input frequency, 1.7 GHz local oscillator and output of 210 MHz), the mixer can handle an RF input as high as +10 dBm without distortion, with a LO power input of only 0 dBm. The IAM-93516 is supplied in a 3.0 x 3.0 x 0.75 mm lead-free and halogen-free 16-pin LPCC (leadless plastic chip carrier) 16L-LPCC3x3 package. The LO port is matched to 50 ohms and can be driven differentially or single-ended; the IF port is matched to 200 ohms and is fully differential. The RF port requires an external matching network for optimum input return loss and third-order intercept point (IP3) performance.
The
IAM-93516 MMIC mixer is available packaged in bulk and in tape-and-reel
on 7-inch and 13-inch reels. Samples and production quantities are available
now through Agilent's direct sales channel and worldwide distribution
partners.
With three decades of RF and microwave design and manufacturing experience, Agilent helps its customers meet the most demanding technical specifications and pass the most difficult regulatory tests around the world. Agilent's RF/microwave components target handset, base station and wireless LAN applications and offer numerous benefits, including small packages, excellent power efficiency and industry-leading performance specifications. The company uses its own commercially available EEsof EDA software tools in the design of its products.
