ASIA : ZTE Corporation, China’s largest listed telecommunications manufacturer and leading wireless solutions provider, has unveiled a full range of TD-SCDMA commercial equipment, making it the leading vendor for this 3G technology. Following successful MTNET tests, ZTE’s TD-SCDMA equipment has demonstrated diversified 3G multimedia services including voice phone, streaming media and data download. The portfolio comprises core networks (ZXWN, ZXTR-RNC and ZXTR-NODEB) and service servers and was shown at last month’s TD-SCDMA International Conference in Beijing. “Capitalising on its profound technical experience, ZTE has led the rapid and successful development of TD-SCDMA, and become the supplier with the broadest range of TD-SCDMA solutions, including service platforms, system equipment, terminal equipment, and network planning services,” said Mr. Hu Jian, general manager of ZTE’s TD-SCDMA products. “In addition, we have been actively promoting MTNET outfield tests, and participating in industrialisation and pre-commercial network tests. The field-proven success further signifies ZTE’s TD-SCDMA’s strong capabilities for large-scale networking.” The Corporation’s TD-SCDMA equipment is supported by extensive work with standards and patents: in 2004 alone, ZTE applied over 100 TD-SCDMA patents at home and abroad and has been one of the main member organisations involved in establishing TD-SCDMA industrialisation testing specifications. ZTE has also been dedicated to promoting connections between different manufacturers via its TD-SCDMA R&D laboratory in Shanghai. The Uu tests among chip and terminal vendors, the service platform interface tests among content providers, and the Iu interface tests among system equipment manufacturers are enabled at the facility, thereby creating an open environment for inter-working and compatibility of equipment from different vendors. “Backed by cutting-edge technologies, local customer services and worldwide applications, ZTE is confident of its place as a leader in the booming global wireless and 3G markets,” added Mr Hu. “We expect to break the existing market patterns and make great contributions in bringing Chinese telecommunications technology abroad.” |
