RF Scanner Covering 2G, 2.5G and 3G

9th May 2003

US : The Seven.Five Multi-Band, Multi-Technology RF Scanner Is the First to Scan All Baseband Frequencies in a Single Unit

The Seven.Five Multi-Band, Multi-Technology RF Scanner, from Comarco, Inc. through its Wireless Test Solutions (WTS) group, is the most advanced and accurate scanner for wireless field-test applications. Capable of lightning-fast scans (up to 3000 channels per second) in multiple frequency bands, with multiple technologies, the Seven.Five Scanner decodes DVCC, BSIC and PN decoding simultaneously. The scanner offers spectrum analyzer-type measurements and full baseband decoding for GSM 850/900/1800/1900, GPRS, IS-136, CDMA2000 and WCDMA. It is the first scanner to cover all baseband frequencies without requiring any plug-in modules.

"We are offering the advanced Seven.Five Scanner on an OEM basis to companies making equipment to test the wireless infrastructure," says Greg Maton, senior vice president and general manager of Comarco Wireless Test Solutions. "Since our scanner covers all standard frequencies, it is the economical and most straightforward solution for users who would otherwise have to purchase a set of plug-ins to work with several technologies."

The Seven.Five Scanner consumes less than seven watts and has a network-locked frequency accuracy of +/-0.1 ppm. The Scanner has full ESD protection, is CE Mark compliant and includes external USB connections.

Pricing for the Seven.Five Scanner starts at $10,000 (US). Availability is six to eight weeks ARO.

Comarco's 3G Scanner provides our new product line with the capability to measure signal strength and various baseband parameters delineated in the IMT-2000 approved 3G specifications, as well as all 2G and 2.5G wireless technologies.

Features:

A wideband RF/analog front end that enables decoding UTRA FDD-DS and FDD-MC standards at their higher symbol rates.

A new DSP platform with substantial resources. Fully programmable functionality provides room to grow and the means to measure more 3G-specific criteria.
Faster scan rates of baseband information. The 3G Scanner provides full baseband decoding for GSM 850/900/1800/1900, EDGE, IS-136, cdma2000, and WCDMA, and it offers true dual-band and tri-band operation.

More efficient time-sharing of the RF front-end between signal strength and baseband measurements.
Spectrum analyzer type measurements.
High speed data logging through a USB link.

The 3G Scanner is offered in three configurations: standalone, as an XPort option, or as an OEM device.
