Android Marshmallow is rolling out to more Three phones

Android Marshmallow is the best version of Android yet, but sadly it’s so far only available on a fairly small percentage of handsets.

Worryingly that may continue to be the case for a long time, as it has with past Android versions, but the good news is that an ever growing number of phones are getting it on Three, including older devices like the Samsung Galaxy S5.

The update should also soon be coming to other Samsung devices on Three, including the Samsung Galaxy Alpha and Samsung Galaxy A3. While the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge have already been updated and new phones like the Samsung Galaxy S7 launched with Marshmallow.

Currently there’s no word on whether the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, S5 Neo or J1 will get Android Marshmallow though and you probably shouldn’t hold your breath, as being older and lower end handsets they won’t be a priority for Samsung.

If you’re rocking an HTC handset on Three the chances of Marshmallow are similarly mixed. The HTC One M9 already has it, as does the HTC One M8. But there’s no word on if or when the HTC One M8s or HTC Desire 620 will get the update.

Over in LG land the LG G4 has been boosted to Android 6.0, but the LG G4c, LG Spirit 4G, LG Leon and LG G3 are all still waiting. The G3 is expected to get it soon though.

If you have a Sony phone on Three the situation is a lot better. The Sony Xperia Z5 and Sony Xperia Z5 Compact both already rock Android Marshmallow, while Sony has confirmed that the Xperia Z3 and Xperia M4 Aqua will be getting the update too.

The Motorola Moto G 3rd gen also has Marshmallow already, as does the Honor 7. But the Honor 5X, Huawei Y3 and Acer Go don’t and nor are they likely to be updated to it.

In short then the Marshmallow situation is mixed on Three, but most recent and high-end phones now sport it and a number of older and lower end handsets are starting to get the update. So as long as you’re not using an ancient or entry-level device you have a good shot of getting Android Marshmallow soon.
