Samsung Galaxy S4 Performance Blows Away Competition
Samsung's Galaxy S4 has blown away the competition in fresh benchmark tests posted online. The powerhouse smartphone offers double the performance of Samsung's Galaxy S3 and Apple's iPhone 5.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 has thrashed the competition in new benchmarks posted online. The GeekBench2 benchmarks conducted by Android Authority compared Samsung's smartphone to the iPhone 5, Galaxy S3 and the HTC One.
The good news is that the version tested was the quad-core International model that will launch in the UK. It'll be interesting to find out how the Exynos 5 Octa-core version compares, but sadly it won't initially be available on our shores because the new chip doesn't support 4G LTE.
We've posted a graphic of the benchmarks below which compares the Galaxy S4 to a number of its major competitors.
As you can clearly see it has double the performance of Samsung's Galaxy S3 and Apple's iPhone 5, while it beats HTC's One by a fair margin. Sadly, the smartphone hasn't been compared to the Sony Xperia Z , but we presume that Sony's mobile will perform very similarly to HTC's device.
The Galaxy S4 actually has the same chip as the HTC's One, but runs the Qualcomm processor at a higher clock-speed (1.9 Ghz v 1.7 Ghz). This explains their difference in performance between the two , although we are worried about how the extra speed will affect the Galaxy S4's battery-life.
We've yet to spot any Galaxy S4 battery benchmarks, but as soon as we spot any or get our hands on Samsung's smartphone we'll be sure to report on the findings. Until then it's interesting to ponder how the Galaxy S4 will stand up against the iPhone 5S , which is due to be unveiled later this year.
