3 UK Launches New Insurance for 3G Mobile Phones and Modems

Europe UK : 3 UK Retail Limited (3) has teamed up with insurance provider Lifestyle Services Group (LSG) to offer customers cover at a competitive price. LSG and 3’s 3Cover for handsets and broadband modems will initially be offered in store then via the web and telesales, which are expected to deliver a significant increase in insurance volumes through LSG and 3’s combined capabilities. 3Cover is priced from £5.99 a month for mobiles and from £3.49 for broadband modems.
 
LSG, a 4u group company, has built up a wealth of experience in the design, administration and fulfilment of retail mobile phone insurance. LSG’s proven and robust supply chain supports 3’s commitment to delivering great service to its customers.
 
Ian Pillinger, Head of Insurance Products at 3, said: “LSG’s mobile phone industry experience and expertise make them the right partner for 3 as we look to provide a comprehensive insurance offering to our customers. The scale of LSG’s operation allows us to develop a range of offers, confident that the infrastructure is in place to deliver them for our customers.”
 
3 join LSG’s growing client list of several major high street banks, two supermarket MVNOs and a number of leading financial services providers, including insurers and credit card companies.

The insurance sales will be handled by 3 and its sub-contracted agents. Policy administration, claims handling and fulfilment are provided by LSG. 3Cover aims for 48-hour replacement (following claim acceptance) and cover against:
 
• Loss
• Theft*
• Accidental or Malicious Damage
• Water or Liquid Damage
• Electrical or Mechanical Breakdown
 
* Excluding theft of airtime
