QUALCOMM and Inventec Appliances Sign 3G Agreement

23rd March , 2006
US : QUALCOMM Incorporated and Inventec Appliances Corporation (IAC), a global leader in smart handheld devices and Internet appliance solutions, specializing in multimedia, broadband and wireless technology convergence, today announced that the companies have signed a new, commercial 3G CDMA subscriber unit and modem card license agreement.

Under the terms of the worldwide, royalty-bearing agreement, QUALCOMM has granted IAC a patent license to develop, manufacture and sell CDMA2000(R) and WCDMA subscriber units and modem card products. The royalties payable by IAC are at QUALCOMM's standard rates and are the same irrespective of the CDMA standard implemented by the subscriber unit or modem card product."QUALCOMM is pleased to grant IAC a license to develop, manufacture and sell subscriber units and modem card products," said Marvin Blecker, president of QUALCOMM Technology Licensing. "The license agreement will allow IAC to participate in the rapidly-growing 3G market and provide superior value-added and innovative wireless solutions to its customers worldwide."

"The escalating growth of subscriber unit shipments out of Taiwan is a testament to the strength of the industry in this region," said Michael Chen, senior vice president of IAC. "We believe this license agreement from QUALCOMM, the leader in CDMA technologies, will be a key factor in our continued success and will enable us to maintain our leadership in the wireless market."
