Saunalahti Service Packages for the Start of 3G Bundling

23rd March , 2006

Europe Finland : 3G mobile phone as well as domestic calls and messages included in fixed monthly fee of Saunalahti Totaali

The change in the Finnish Communications Market Act, which will come into effect on 1 April 2006, enables the bundling of a mobile phone and GSM subscription. To start with, Saunalahti’s range will comprise two service packages aimed at different kinds of users and five 3G phones.

The basic price of the service packages comprises Motorola E770, Nokia 6630, Sony Ericsson K600i or Samsung SGH-Z140. There is a small additional lump-sum fee for the more expensive Nokia N70 phone. The monthly fee of the service package Saunapaketti (Sauna Package, EUR 19.95/month) includes calls to Saunalahti subscriptions and Totaali (Total, EUR 49.95/month) includes calls to all domestic networks, 3G video calls, text messages and multimedia messages.

”The bundling ban relating to the sale of mobile phones in Finland has partly caused the low awareness of new mobile phone services among the Finns compared to many other European countries. The mobile phone stock is also considerably older and less developed in Finland,” says Pasi Vanninen, Sales Director of Saunalahti. “The change in the Finnish Communications Market Act makes it possible to provide new developed devices and mobile services to more and more Finns at a reasonable price. In addition, it is a lot easier to start using new services as the mobile phone settings have already been configured for the consumer.”

The preliminary sales of Saunalahti’s service packages start today. Orders can be made only via Saunalahti’s customer service by phone until next week. From 1 April, the packages can also be ordered online and via resellers (e.g. ElisaShopit). The service package agreement is made for a term of 24 months. There will be new mobile phone models added to the range during the spring.
