Sweden : DOVADO has added support for WCDMA/HSDPA PCMCIA modems from
Huawei, Option and Novatel Wireless as addition to the present list
of supported modems, those being from Flarion (Qualcomm), IPWireless
and UTStarcom.
The
DOVADO Wireless Residential Gateway (WRG) can be firmware-upgraded
over-the-air in order to capacitate newer modems as operators evolve
their networks from one technology to the next, thus not requiring
subscribers to acquire a newer gateway for each newer generation of
technology that is introduced.
The WRG can be used as
an all-in-one access device within a home, office or onboard a vessel/vehicle.
Mobile operators would be able to bundle competitive voice and data
packages as part of their service plan.
“As the boundaries
between mobile, fixed and internet segments are thinning, the operators
can combine the strengths of all three out of the WRG in order to
broaden their current service offerings. For the subscriber, this
means having all services out of one box, which is easy to setup and
use.” says Erik Arthur, CEO of DOVADO.
The WRG connects
to the mobile network via a slot-in PCMCIA modem, and can share the
internet access to many users simultaneously as a WiFi/LAN router.
Additional features such as telephony allow subscribers to use their
existing regular analog telephone sets and fax machines to get the
best out of next generation SIP telephony inherent in the mobile soft-switching
infrastructures better known as IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS).
With the assistance of
the DOVADO Gateway Manager (DGM), all of the DOVADO gateways are operator-managed
from a central location in order to simplify and shorten the installation
process by operator subscribers.
“Having
successfully demonstrated the WRG’s capabilities at the 3GSM
event in Barcelona last month, we are happy to announce that we have
received a tremendous interest from mobile operators worldwide for
this product.”, adds Samir Madani, Director of Sales & Marketing
at DOVADO.
