UK : Mobile media company 3 has won “Best Digital Music Service”
at this year’s Music Week Awards, an event recognising the best
in the music business. 3 beat competition from Napster, Yahoo, Vodafone
and Orange to win the digital music category.
On receiving the award Graeme Oxby ( inset ), Marketing
Director at 3 said: ”This is great news for 3, we’re delighted
to get industry recognition for the innovative services we offer.

services over mobile. The music industry has been very quick to recognise
the potential of video mobile and this award confirms it.”
The judges assessed the services based on several criteria:

end-user.
Functionality, design values and accessibility to the end user.
Commercial viability of the service.
Overall the judges are looking for a winning entry which delivers
a unique but desirable service to its users.
3 was the first to offer customers streaming and downloading of full-length
music videos and over fifteen million were downloaded in the first
twelve months of the service. 3 was the first company to offer live
gigs over mobile to customers.
3 was also the first to launch a dual download service delivering
music tracks bought through a mobile handset to the customer’s
home PC at the same time and offers over 500,000 full-length audio
and video tracks from the major record labels to its customers.
