China's 3G Subscribers Will Reach 10 Million in 2006

ASIA : Analysys International says that China's total 3G mobile communication subscribers will exceed 10 million in 2006 and will reach 100 million in the following five years.

In 2006, the development of 3G services will drive the increase of 3G subscribers. Analysys International estimates China's 3G mobile communication subscribers will exceed 10 million in 2006, accounting for 2.2% of the total mobile communication subscribers in China; and in the following five years, 3G subscribers will reach 100 million, accounting for 13% of the total mobile subscriber base.

With the development of 3G mobile communication market, mobile value-added services market will enter the innovation stage. SP's capability of innovation will become a key strength in China's 3G progress. Analysys International says China's 3G mobile value-added services market will reach RMB 20 billion in the coming 3 or 4 years, accounting for 18.5% of the total mobile value added services market in China.

''In 2006, after 3G licenses are issued in China, domestic 3G equipment investments are expected to reach RMB 30.6 billion,'' says Zhou Yi, an analyst from Analysys International. ''In addition, overseas owners of 3G intellectual property rights will compromise on the 3G patent fees.''
