US : Samsung is demonstrating the world's first DVB-H handset developed for CDMA networks at the annual Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association (CTIA) trade show this week.

On display at its booth at CTIA (#1045, Hall B1), Samsung's DVB-H handset demo will show consumers the future of mobile broadcasting – bringing large-volume multimedia, television and radio content to a wireless handset.

With updated Internet Protocol Datacast (IPDC) functionality built into Samsung's CDMA DVB-H phone, users will experience interactive mobile television. Viewers can watch home shopping programs on their wireless handset, receive real-time product information and instantly make a purchase via their phone.

This latest addition to its portfolio of mobile broadcasting products makes Samsung the first manufacturer to successfully develop DVB-H handsets supporting both CDMA and GSM networks, the platforms commonly used in the U.S. and Europe. Already included in its product line-up are terrestrial and satellite Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) phones, developed for the Asian market.

“Samsung's superior wireless phones are the ideal devices to give consumers the ultimate multimedia experience and allow them to fully realize the power of mobile broadcasting,” said President & CEO Kitae Lee of the Telecommunication Network Business. “The development of handset solutions for such high-speed, cutting-edge technologies as DVB-H is at the core of Samsung's commitment to bring to market premium wireless handsets that serve as personal multimedia portals for connected consumers.”
