Europe : Anritsu has won an order with Radio Frequency Investigations Limited (RFI Ltd), a UK test house that provides consultancy and testing services to the wireless communications industry, to provide its ME7873A TRX/Performance test system, for testing compliance of customer's User Equipment (UE) to 3G industry standards.

RFI Ltd provides its customers, such as mobile cellular phone manufacturers, with test services and consultancy enabling them to validate their products against government and industry standards. The system will allow RFI to completely test 3G handsets in accordance with the radio performance requirements of the R&TTE Directive and the Global Certification Forum (GCF) and to 34.131, clauses 5/6/7 of 3GPP. Delivery of the system is expected before the end of March and is part of RFI's capital investment plans for 2004 that also include the creation of a brand new laboratory in May.

Richard Jacklin, RFI's Operations Director, stated, "Having successfully validated the test system on Anritsu's behalf, we were so impressed with its performance that we decided it should form part of our test platform portfolio. It makes good sense that having developed the expertise in using the platform that we continue to use it in carrying out commercial testing."

Paul Hunter, Anritsu's European Managing Director said, "We are delighted that RFI have selected Anritsu as its 3G test platform supplier. As more 3G UE's become available, RFI will now be well placed to offer its testing facilities in conjunction with Anritsu's test platform, verifying Anritsu's position as a leader in conformance testing."
