3G Networks Optimisation Platform

24th March , 2004

Europe : Flash Networks, the world leader in optimization technology for mobile data networks, announced the launch of a 3G-ready version of its proven NettGain™ 1200 mobile data optimization platform. Allowing increased perceived network speed and lower data transmission overhead across the broadest range of networks, NettGain 1200 helps carriers raise ARPU and profitability of mobile data networks, foster mobile data customer loyalty, and lower user churn.

NettGain 1200 is already commercially deployed in over 25 top-tier wireless carriers worldwide, and has been proven to significantly improve the performance of 3G networks. NettGain's unique protocol optimization technology and cutting-edge session management capabilities help providers overcome some inherent 3G problems, such as bad handoffs, frequent disconnections, and network underutilization.

"Bringing NettGain 1200 to 3G was a natural evolution," said Dr. Yair Shapira, Flash Networks CTO. "Mobile data adoption rates on 3G networks – like those on 2G and 2.5G - have not lived up to industry expectations," he continued. "This disappointment has primarily been due to low user satisfaction with perceived network speed and reliability and the high costs of mobile data applications. NettGain 1200 was developed to address exactly these issues."

Specifically designed for mobile providers, NettGain 1200 is a modular, scalable mobile data delivery platform. By applying optimized communication protocols and a variety of compression mechanisms, NettGain delivers a wire-like user experience – quick, robust and consistent, providing acceleration factors of up to 10-fold.

NettGain 1200's cutting-edge synchronization, queuing and content handling technologies help carriers significantly reduce delivery costs of rich content applications. Additionally, NettGain allows providers to offer homogenized service over different bearers – 2.5G, 3G and WLAN - based on a single authentication, an integrated dashboard, unified billing and session continuity.

"NettGain 1200 allows providers to recoup investment in 3G networks faster, bringing them to profitability through more cost-effective provision of reliable, wire-like data services," noted Flash Networks CEO Mr. Zvi Peled. "Mobile data services are a crucial, integral part of 3G networks. NettGain not only accelerates the adoption of mobile data services – it strengthens the viability of 3G networks themselves."
