LG Show 3G Handsets

22nd March , 2004

ASIA : LG Electronics consolidates its global position in FPD/mobile devices at the recent CeBIT exhibition.

In the information and telecommunications hall, LGE introduced dual-band 3G mobile handsets that are GSM, GPRS, and WCDMA-compatible as its technologies are continually developing existing single-mode devices. This allows LGE to demonstrate its third-generation technological prowess in mobile handsets. The company will also unveil 1.3 million-pixel, high-performance camera phones, 270 degree-rotating LCD-screen camera phones, and other high-performance GSM mobile handsets.

In the 505 square meters information and telecommunications hall, LGE will showcase 30-plus products, such as GSM, GPRS, and WCDMA-compatible dual band handsets.

In the fair, LGE will unveil dual-band mobile phones (models: LG-U8150) with a 2.2-inch, 260,000-pixel color TFT-LCD and a high-performance 300,000-pixel (VGA) built-in camera.

These models allow compatibility for European-type WCDMA services for second- and third-generation handsets, and they are fit for sophisticated mobile multimedia environments. These dual-folder mobile handsets support third-generation high-speed data services, such as mobile imaging communications, VOD (Video On Demand), and MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service), and they are equipped with zoom and continuous shooting functions.

In addition, LGE will unveil 1.3 million-pixel, high-performance camera phones, 270-degree rotating LCD camera phones, and other high-performance GSM handsets.

The intenna style 1.3 million-pixel high-performance camera phones, which adopts a 262K color main TFT-LCD and 65K color sub TFT-LCD, offers VOD service.

The 270-degree rotating LCD camera phone (model: LG-G7200) allows free rotation up to 270 degrees and video recording and adopts an external LCD loaded with an organic EL. It allows mobile image recording, playback and receiving/transmitting mobile images via video MMS.

Meanwhile, in response to the pilot and commercial services of domestic and foreign WCDMA service operators, LGE is poised to lead the third-generation mobile phone market by developing its handsets' networking systems.
