3G UMTS Mobile Design & Development

The 6401 Air Interface Test System is a multi-standard instrument designed for the test and verification of 3G mobiles and terminals known as User Equipment (UE). Focused on 3GPP FDD technology first, the 6401 is capable of supporting UE development from R&D through to system integration, validation and conformance testing against the defined 3GPP specifications. This includes supplying a complete suite of 3GPP FDD conformance test cases and support.

To test fully the performance of a UE, the 6401 provides an integrated protocol and RF test solution. Highly complex UMTS network emulation scenarios can be configured and layer 1, 2 and 3 monitoring can be performed at the Uu interface. The flexibility of the design enables the 6401 to perform intra and inter-system handover testing, as well as supporting the development of applications that are key to the success of 3G. The highly modular design meets the demands of next generation testing and protects the user against evolving test requirements and future technology developments.

European consumers will soon be able to experience the latest smart phones launched by SAMSUNG Electronics, the giant mobile manufacture, which includes the Palm OS based SGH-i500, the Microsoft Pocket PC 2002 based SGH-i700 and the SGH-D700, based on the Symbian OS.
