Cellular Performer for 2.5G and 3G Troubleshooting

11th March 2003

The Cellular Performer integrates RADCOM's proprietary Gear chip, a fully customized analyzer processor exclusively designed to provide unmatched testing performance at all cellular network layers, independent of protocols and technologies. Using the generic analyzer processor chip (Gear), the Cellular Performer offers hardware-based, full line rate analysis capabilities at up to 2.5 Gbps, with a range of applications for analyzing
and troubleshooting 2.5 and 3G networks, including UMTS, Edge and CDMA2000. Support for GPRS will follow in the first quarter of 2003.

This innovative approach provides customers with real-time cell and packet analysis and troubleshooting capabilities at all seven telecommunications layers; from basic physical and link layer testing, to complex tracing of NAS layer voice, and on through IP
session signaling and data/voice QoS validation. The Cellular Performer decodes over 550 telecom and datacom protocols, including standard protocols such as ITU-T, ANSI, IEFT, 3GPP and 3GPP2 as well as country/vendor-specific variants. In addition
to offering full-line rate AAL2 support, the Cellular Performer seamlessly integrates complex decoding of UMTS Iub/Iur and CDMA2000 1x deciphering in the protocol decode process.

A fully distributed system, the Cellular Performer is an ideal solution for vendor R&D, QA and integration labs as well as for operators during network setup and operation for protocol verification, cell/frame-level analysis, voice call and IP session
analysis and streaming media and voice quality testing.

“Poor signaling quality, delay, jitter and loss are some of the challenges of ensuring Quality of Service, from the user's perspective, in 2.5 and 3G networks, services and applications. In order to help our customers meet those and other challenges of these emerging, convergence technologies, RADCOM leveraged the best of breed capabilities of its Prism-based cellular consultants, which are currently used by most major mobile technology vendors and service providers worldwide, and added customer-driven capabilities with the speed, flexibility and power of the Performer platform,” said Doron Milchtaich, RADCOM's Cellular Technologies Product Manager.
