Hutchison 3G UK Request £1 Billion ( $1.6Billion )

A surprise request by Hutchison 3G UK has triggered 4 separate announcements as below :

1) Hutchison Whampoa ( Hong Kong ) confirmed it will inject £650 million of a £1 billion shareholder funding request made by its subsidiary Hutchison 3G U.K. as NTT DoCoMo and KPN Mobile consider whether to make further investments - more details below.

2) NTT DoCoMo confirmed Hutchison 3G UK Holdings Limited ( H3G UK ) is seeking a shareholders loan advancement of £200 million, in accordance with our 20% proportional equity interest in H3G UK. 3G UK delivered the Funding Call Notice to DoCoMo pursuant to a provision of the Shareholders Agreement between Hutchison Whampoa Limited and DoCoMo that stipulates that DoCoMo is contractually obligated to provide up to £200 million as a loan advance if certain pre-conditions are fulfilled.

3) A similar request has been received by KPN Mobile, who is a 15% shareholder of Hutchison 3G UK, for £150 Million, Both companies are considering a response to the funding Call Notice which is likely to be made by Mid April.

4) A statement from 3 UK regarding next-stage investment from shareholders follows : 3 has begun the rollout of commercial services in the UK and is delivering handsets to customers within the next two weeks. As we begin to enter the next phase of our business, with plans for aggressive growth in the future, in line with the terms of the original shareholders agreements we have approached our shareholders regarding next-stage investment. We have no further announcements to make.
