Hutchison 3G UK ("Hutchison 3G") holder of the U.K.'s largest third generation license, has selected Business Objects, the world's leading provider of business intelligence (BI) solutions, as its business intelligence standard. 3G is a convergence of media, information and telephony which enables people to access information and entertainment services on the move. Hutchison 3G will use Business Objects for information reporting and sharing in intranet, extranet, and wireless environments. Hutchison 3G will initially deploy the system in the U.K. and later make it available in other countries where Hutchison Whampoa has 3G interests. This transaction occurred in Q4 2001.
Hutchison 3G will deploy Business Objects as the internal reporting standard to all levels of the company. Users will be able to access and analyze information across sales, finance, marketing, and from every customer touch-point. Consequently, Hutchison 3G will have complete visibility of key business metrics across the organization to help drive operational efficiency, maximize customer satisfaction and retention, and enhance the company's marketing, sales and services initiatives.
