US / Europe : Alcatel-Lucent introduced its CDMA2000 mobile network solution for the 700 MHz spectrum band. Alcatel-Lucent's commercial CDMA2000 solution, deployed by service providers worldwide, is being enhanced to support the specific needs of the public safety organizations of state and local governments. Based on CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Revision A (Rev. A) technology, the solution supports services beneficial to public safety personnel including secure, high-speed access to critical information and the ability to share multimedia data, images and video from any location, push-to-talk services to establish easy communication between groups such as first responders, and critical location-identification services. It also will enable applications such as access assurance, which guarantees specific users network access during times when network traffic may be high due to an event such as a natural disaster. "We're pleased to be able to provide public safety organizations with a high-quality, reliable mobile network solution that leverages the power of our commercial platform," said Mike Iandolo, president of Alcatel-Lucent's CDMA/EV-DO activities. "Public safety and other personnel will be impressed with the high-quality voice and the very high-speed data capabilities that CDMA2000 technology delivers." Alcatel-Lucent's commercial CDMA2000 products available to support public safety networks include the Alcatel-Lucent CDMA Modular Cell 4.0 Compact and Radio Network Controller. In addition, Alcatel-Lucent is developing the necessary operations and network management software needed to support public safety services including authentication and encryption capabilities that provides users with secure access to certain services. The CDMA Modular Cell 4.0 Compact base station will be shown in Alcatel- Lucent's booth (#1562) at the upcoming Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association (CTIA) 2007 trade show taking place March 27-29 in Orlando, Florida at the Orange County Convention Centre. |
