Korea : Korea Telekom announced its launch of ‘iPlug Premium’, an integrated USB modem compatible with both WiBro and KTF’s HSDPA.
The introduction of the world’s first integrated USB modem will enable the use of both WiBro and HSDPA services with just one device and encourage consumers to use mobile internet services.
Users in WiBro service coverage areas such as Seoul and other major cities will be able to use WiBro, which is up to four times faster than existing mobile internet services, at affordable rates, while users outside the service area can access the internet by connecting to HSDPA.
The highly portable USB modem can be connected to a notebook computer, PMP (Portable Multimedia Player) and other types of mobile devices. College students and adults who spend a lot of time on the road will be particularly thrilled about the new modem.
Users can choose from a wide range of WiBro rates such as WiBro Free (16,000 Won per Month/Unlimited Access) and HSDPA (29,500 Won per Month/5GB). The integrated USB modems are sold at KTF stores in Seoul. For more information, visit KT WiBro Website (www.ktwibro.com).
Pyo Hyeon-myeong, Director of KT Mobile Internet Division, said, “The introduction of the USB modem will enable consumers to enjoy high-speed internet connection by using both WiBro and HSDPA at low rates anytime, anywhere. We will continue to offer more customized products such as the ‘Wonderfull’ program so that our customers can have more choices and benefits.”
Following the introduction of the integrated USB modem, KT plans to introduce even more types of modems that are compatible with Nespot, DMB and most other mobile devices.
