Europe : DOVADO has been selected by UK Broadband Ltd., the UK subsidiary of Hong Kong-based operator PCCW, for the delivery of the Wireless Residential Gateway (WRG) as part of the operator’s wireless broadband service offering under the now brand.


The now network operated by UK Broadband runs on the 3G/UMTS-TDD standard. The wireless broadband service is currently available throughout the Thames Valley and West London.

As a subscriber unit, the WRG connects to the wireless broadband network via a slot-in PC-card modem (PCMCIA) and provides simultaneous internet access to many users through WiFi/LAN connectivity. Additional features such as telephony allow subscribers to use their existing analog telephones to get the best out of next generation SIP telephony.

With the assistance of the DOVADO Gateway Manager (DGM), all of the DOVADO gateways shall be managed by UK Broadband in order to simplify and shorten the installation process for the subscribers.

“We are very delighted to see the DOVADO WRG selected by UK Broadband for the delivery of data and voice services within their wireless broadband network. Combined with the ability to remotely manage the subscriber units, UK Broadband will easily be able to activate or modify services upon subscriber request.” said Erik Arthur, CEO, DOVADO.

The WRG will allow us to improve our customer service proposition by offering a single box solution for voice and data services, combined with a WiFi capability giving a genuine wireless experience in the home, delivered over our wireless broadband network.” said Keith Hawkins, COO, UK Broadband. Deliveries of the WRG units to UK Broadband will take place later this summer.
