Europe : iBwave completes a global software licensing agreement with Ericsson, the world’s leading Telecommunications Equipment and Services Provider. Ericsson’s use of RF-vu for their in-building designs is to standardize project documentation across offices worldwide. Following more than a year of rigorous design and testing with a limited number of RF-vu licenses, Ericsson found the software has a broad range of functionality including a built-in components database, free viewer capability and proven return on investment on the commissioning and designing of complex networks. As more in-building wireless networks are being rolled out, there is a need to speed up the design process to meet coverage and user demands. Some of the drivers
behind this are: As a result, operators are working with equipment manufacturers like Ericsson to not only provide infrastructure but also to assist with the in-building design process. iBwave’s President, Mario Bouchard comments, "Ericsson is an ideal RF-vu user since they push the boundaries of implementing all types of in-building systems like distributed antenna systems (DAS), distributed RBS solutions and more. Their testing, feedback and approval of RF-vu have only made our product stronger. Ericsson’s global use of RF-vu shows the value it can bring to ensure consistency across multiple teams and regions. We are pleased to have entered into such an agreement with the world leader in the Telecommunications sector." In late 2005, ABI Research’s director of wireless research Lance Wilson stated, "The in-building wireless market is virtually guaranteed to grow, since it must keep pace with the expanding reach and range of outdoor wireless communications. In fact, even today only a relatively small percentage of buildings in North America and Western Europe are equipped with in-building wireless, so the market will probably grow even faster as more buildings are retro-fitted with these systems." Dedicated in-building design software like RF-vu brings standardization to the industry to ensure fast, accurate rollouts of networks that can be shared amongst all members of the in-building value chain. |
