Europe : Samsung Electronics, the Korean based leading mobile handset manufacturer, provided T-DMB (Terrestrial Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) phones to Debitel, one of Germany’s largest Mobile Service Providers, for the launch of Europe’s first commercial DMB based Mobile TV service in Germany.

Debitel’s DMB service will be available from May 31st, letting German enhance their FIFA World Cup 2006 experience by bringing it into mobility. People can watch World Cup Games exclusively with Europe’s first T-DMB phone, Samsung’s P900, in German market in June.

With Samsung’s famous and unique landscape view design, the SGH-P900 gives consumers a more ergonomic Mobile TV experience. In addition to crisp and vivid TV viewing, the SGH-P900 fully supports additional multimedia features including a 2 megapixel camera, music players, and Bluetooth technology. Its enhanced audio quality powered by dual speakers, digital power amplifier, and an external music key helps maximize the live broadcasting TV viewing experience.

Mobile TV service will be available in five major cities of Germany. The service will start in Berlin, Cologne, Munich, Stuttgart and Frankfurt and then will spread to more major German cities during the next month.

Paul A. Stodden, CEO of Debitel said, “German is an ideal market to be the first in Europe to launch the DMB mobile TV service. ‘2006 FIFA World Cup’ is taking place and people will enjoy watching live soccer broadcasts. With the help of our DMB service, our customers will not miss any of the action and excitement of the World Cup soccer matches. We are also delighted to work with Samsung and through this cooperation, becoming Europe’s first to commercially launch mobile DMB TV service “.

Kitae Lee, President of Telecommunications Network Business at Samsung Electronics said, “We are very pleased to introduce Europe’s first T-DMB mobile TV phones with Debitel, one of the most innovative mobile service providers, in Germany where the ‘2006 FIFA World Cup’ is being hosted.
