Etch-A-Sketch Goes Mobile on Orange UK

29 June , 2005

Europe : IN-FUSIO, the publisher of top-of-the-range games for mobile phones, today announces that it is bringing the original and best drawing toy, Etch-A-Sketch, into the 21st century with the launch of the mobile version. The game, based on the original Ohio Art Company toy is available to UK gamers from Orange UK to a wide array of handsets.

Using Etch-A-Sketch, players can unleash the artist in themselves by using the number pad or directional arrows to control the stylus nib. Etch-A-Sketch is great for quick sketches or even the creation of a masterpiece. From a simple square house to an elaborate dream castle the opportunities for creativity are endless. And, of course, if you don’t like the outcome, erase and start again.

The fun doesn’t end when the artwork is finished. Remember shaking the toy to erase the picture? This is simulated in the mobile version, pressing the 0 key to wipe out the picture and start the vibrating function of the phone.

For the first time ever, players can save their drawings too. Up to three sketches can be saved onto a handset’s memory to show to friends and family later in the day.

Launched in 1960, the Etch-A-Sketch toy has been used in over 100 million homes worldwide and thanks to this 21st century re-vamp the popular game will continue to be a favourite among budding Monets and Van Goghs.

“Etch-A-Sketch mobile is a great addition to the IN-FUSIO games portfolio.” said Carole Pero, Game Product Manager “The original toy is enjoyed by people aged 5-75. Bringing it to the mobile handset is a great way for consumers to enjoy a great classic toy on a modern technology device. Etch-A-Sketch is complimentary to the classic games range, darts, backgammon and solitaire that we have recently launched onto the mobile handset.”
