KDDI Takes WebLogic for 3G |
15th June , 2004 |
ASIA : BEA Systems announced that KDDI Corporation, Japan's leading broadband and 3G mobile service operator, selected BEA WebLogic Platform(TM) 8.1 for KDDI's operations support systems (OSS) platform that will be designed to help automate operations by coordinating multiple systems. The new OSS platform will be designed to help address the surge in the number of KDDI's broadband service subscribers. KDDI provides a comprehensive line-up of services from the Internet to fixed and mobile communications. KDDI's service, KDDI Hikari-Plus, currently provides Internet access, IP-phone and TV services with FTTH (Fiber To The Home), and is expected to adopt new advanced services. KDDI increasingly faces competition amongst communications carriers to provide new broadband services to consumers and businesses. The KDDI Hikari-Plus service requires a flexible OSS platform to succeed. KDDI's decision to migrate its OSS platform was driven by a need to reduce the delivery time of new services in order to drive new subscriber adoption. KDDI selected BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1 due to its proven reliability, its flexibility to accommodate business demands for new services, and its reputation for helping to meet diversifying business needs amongst communications carriers in the U.S. and Europe. "We were able to quickly build an OSS platform capable of accommodating future needs that can offer greater development productivity so we can quickly meet changing business needs," said Hirotsugu Sumiyoshi, director of the development department, Platform Development Division, KDDI. "We were quite impressed with the reliability and ease of use of BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1. By leveraging this platform, we intend to increase the customer satisfaction among the users of broadband services such as KDDI Hikari-Plus." |
