Taiwanese 3G Operator Places Contract

4th June 2003

Europe : Intec Telecom Systems has signed a second deal with Taiwan-based 3G operator Asia Pacific Broadband Wireless Communications (APBW) to supply its world leading settlement solution InterconnecT(tm). Intec's solution will be installed alongside Intec's Inter-mediatE(tm) convergent mediation solution, which APBW purchased last month. InterconnecT, the world's leading interconnect billing solution, will meet the complex 3G requirements of APBW by offering support for interconnect bill settlement with other telecommunications operators for voice, data, content and other services as well as prepaid and postpaid business models. APBW plans to launch the first CDMA2000 commercial service in the country this year, in the 800MHz frequency band that was awarded in the recent Taiwan 3G spectrum auction.

"InterconnecT offers APBW a customisable solution with the sort of flexible usage collection, processing and settlement capabilities that a 3G operator with multiple, complex services will require," says John Rocca, Intec's director for Asia-Pacific. "InterconnecT will easily manage APBW's business needs and network traffic levels, delivering the highest quality of information to the operator and maximising the revenue potential from its next-generation services."

Commenting on the deal, Kevin Adams, Intec's CEO said: "Intec is pleased to have signed another contract with APBW, Taiwan's newest mobile operator. This agreement further establishes InterconnecT as the primary settlements platforms in the next generation OSS market, and increases our presence in Asia-Pacific. As mobile communications evolves, new technologies will provide mobile operators with different products and services. Intec's solution will ensure that APBW is at the forefront of these technological changes by providing the scalability to manage increasing call traffic and the flexibility to support next generation service products."
