Nokia Launches New GPRS Wireless Camera Phone

Nokia, the world's largest mobile phone maker, began shipments of its much-awaited color-screen mobile phone with an in-built digital camera it hopes will revitalize the sluggish handset market.

Nokia, which trails some rivals with color-screen phones, said the 7650 model would start appearing in stores on Thursday in Finland and some European countries but with full volume deliveries in the third quarter.

"Phone deliveries started today from our Salo factory," said Nokia Mobile Phones spokesman Tapio Hedman, adding the device would retail for around $796, excluding subsidies."
