New 2.5G Wireless Platform Contract In Thailand
27th June 2002

Ericsson has signed a contract for supplying 2.5G (GPRS) mobile handset platforms to GVC Corporation, Taiwan. Being a major ODM player in the field of consumer electronics and mobile phones, GVC Corporation will utilize Ericsson Mobile Platforms' state-of-the-art mobile platforms in its handset product development and production.

"By this agreement we get access to Ericsson's world-class platform
technology. We are confident that this offering will enable GVC to
launch new products quickly", says Dr. David Su, President of GVC
Corporation.

"Based on Ericsson's mobile platforms offering, we are assured that
GVC Corporation will meet its high demands on handset development,
products and rapid time to market for its customers", says Tord
Wingren, President of Ericsson Mobile Platforms. "The deal shows
evidence of the transforming mobile phone market, where previously a
handful of companies would supply the complete products to their
customers. Today the market trend is that a large number of vendors
will build consumer products using crucial components supplied by a
small number of specialized companies."

In line with the agreement, GVC Corporation develops value added 2.5G
GPRS phones based on Ericsson's core mobile handset technology.
Ericsson holds the world's largest portfolio of 2.5G and 3G
Intellectual Property Rights. Part of this portfolio is now offered
to the market through Ericsson Mobile Platforms, positioning Ericsson
as a leading supplier of the core handset technology.
