TTPCom has established a market leading position with its GPRS protocol stack software and has signed a total of 22 licences to date. TTPCom’s GPRS technology offers the most advanced functionality – multi-slot class 12 – which allows the development of products that make maximum use of GPRS networks.

TTPCom occupies a unique position within the wireless communications market. As the world’s leading independent developer the Company licenses the latest in communications technology, including complete handset designs, to the world’s foremost mobile terminal manufacturers, but does not manufacture these products itself. In addition TTPCom has developed a multi-platform strategy in which its protocol software is compatible with silicon from many of the world’s leading semiconductor manufacturers. This provides significant flexibility for wireless device manufacturers which are able to source essential baseband or radio chips from a number of suppliers.

In addition to Sharp, the Company has a number of significant relationships in Japan. TTPCom has been working with Hitachi for over 8 years, recently announced dual-mode 3G/GSM technology licensing agreements with Toshiba and Matsushita Electric Industrial, helping them to spearhead the development of next generation mobile devices, and has sold its GPRS platform to Toshiba for its i-mode handsets which will be launched in the Netherlands later this year.
