OniWay selected the Netcool suite to help provide consolidated management across its infrastructure, including third generation mobile data services. OniWay holds one of the four licenses awarded in Portugal for the construction and operation of third generation (3G) mobile communications networks, and is the first operator to successfully carry a voice telephone call using the Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) technology," said Antonio Vidigal, OniWay's CEO. "Micromuse's Netcool suite is helping provide a realtime service management solution that helps OniWay staff actively associate faults on the network with the services they impact, enabling us to prioritize and proactively manage our resources. This
is important as we seek to build a reputation on innovative products
and service reliability and quality." OniWay
selected Micromuse's flagship Netcool(R)/OMNIbus(TM) application along
with the Netcool(R)/Impact(TM) and Netcool(R)/Webtop(TM) applications.
The combined solutions enable enhanced service delivery and reporting
via end-to-end monitoring of OniWay's mobile network, Internet and 3G
services, as well as providing OAM operations and security teams with
realtime, Web-enabled service level views. Serving as a "manager
of managers," the Netcool solution also helps consolidate event
data from OniWay's firewalls, reducing the time taken to detect and
respond to security breaches and providing an end-to-end view of firewall-related
activities. The complete solution will integrate with third party applications
such as performance management tools from ADC Metrica and customer care
applications such as Clarify to present end-to-end support for OniWay's
business and operational support system. "OniWay represents the next generation of mobile communication providers, and is helping define the market for innovative, customer-focused mobile services in Southern Europe," said Richard Lowe, Micromuse's Vice President, Europe, Middle East & Africa. "By providing network operators with one pane of glass through which to view the status of the entire network landscape, the Netcool suite enables OniWay to monitor and manage a complex infrastructure in realtime to help ensure the uptime of services and satisfaction of customers." About the Netcool Suite
Micromuse's Netcool(R) software suite provides businesses with the assurance
that their networks, services and applications are working. By allowing
our customers to see what's happening throughout the infrastructure
in realtime, Netcool applications enable them to respond to problems
before they cause network-based business services to go down. |
