Mirror On The Wall, Who Is The Fairest 3G User Of All ?

3G LAB announced it is doubling the size of its headquarters to accommodate the company's 62 staff and to house a new mobile phone usability testing suite which incorporates two-way mirrors and hidden cameras. The new suite has been built both to accelerate the development and testing of mobile phone applications, and to allow close observation of consumers actually using next generation mobile phones. 3G LAB will recruit consumers to take part in user experience testing in the new studio, allowing assessment of how effective and satisfying new mobile applications are before they launch commercially. The user experience, identified by analysts including the Nielsen Norman Group* as a root cause for the initial failure of WAP, is the future battleground upon which the user's choice of mobile network operator and mobile device will be based. Latest generation colour mobile phones are now in the shops and users will demand well designed applications and services that make best use of these devices," said Steve Ives, CEO, 3G LAB. "Our clients believe that ultimately, the usability of a mobile phone's user interface will determine a service's success or failure." He continued: "3G LAB's Trigenix and Appcelerata products are totally geared to design and deliver applications to mobile phones, and client demand has meant that we have had to double the size of our Cambridge facility. The usability suite now allows our clients to monitor how people interact with new technology. * Nielsen Norman Group, WAP Usability Report, December 2000 |
