Create new revenue streams from existing 2G and 2.5G networks, as well as emerging 3G networks
20th June 2002

IBM and Cash-U today announced that they will offer Cash-U‘s Pecan mobile entertainment platform and Pistachio Software Developer Kit (SDK) as part of IBM’s growing wireless e-business solutions portfolio.

The Cash-U Pecan platform, integrated with IBM’s WebSphere Everyplace Server software, will provide a leading solution for developing and hosting value-added mobile entertainment services. The joint solution will help mobile operators and service providers to drive new revenue streams from existing 2G and 2.5G networks, as well as emerging 3G networks.

Guido Bartels, IBM director of wireless e-business, EMEA commented: “Combining Cash-U’s Pecan platform and Pistachio SDK with our WebSphere middleware offers operators a highly reliable and scalable wireless entertainment solution that is both easy to integrate and fast-to-market. This collaboration between Cash-U and IBM will help operators to offer their customers attractive new entertainment services that will generate additional revenue streams and increase ARPU.“

Amir Peleg, founder and CEO, Cash-U added: “Cash-U’s leadership role in the mobile entertainment industry is further strengthened by our relationship with IBM. The synergy created between Cash-U’s offering and IBM’s wireless e-business expertise will provide a premier solution for wireless operators and service providers to grow their entertainment business.”

Under this agreement, Cash-U, an IBM advanced Partnerworld member, will enjoy joint marketing initiatives, hosting, local support and introductions to new customers by IBM. The opening of new sales channels will also benefit the Cash-U developer community as demand for new software applications for the Pecan platform climbs.
