Samsung has issued a two paragraph press statement confirming the Samsung Galaxy SII ( S2 )achieved over 5 million sales on 27^thJuly.. The time taken to achieve the 5 million sales was just 85 days and Samsung predict they will hit 10 million sales sometime in 2011.

Its no surprise to 3G that the Samsung Galaxy SII is doing so well as our reviewer concluded "The best Android handset yet, the Samsung Galaxy SII excels in all areas" in our Samsung Galaxy SII review in May.

The Galaxy SII has recently been the subject of update to Android 2.3.4. and will bring Google Talk video ( via its rear camera ) and improved power management. At the same time a number of bugs and fixes will be introduced.

Another interesting development concerning the Samsung Galaxy SII is that a Windows Phone 7 version in the pipeline which will further boost sales in 2011.
