Samsung has built on the success of the Ultra Edition range launched in July 2006 with its new Ultra Edition 2 handsets launched at 3GSM 2007.

The Samsung Ultra Edition 2 portfolio consists of two stylish and functional sliders, the Ultra Edition 10.9 (U600) and the Ultra Edition 12.1 (U700); a metallic clamshell, the Ultra Edition 9.6 (U300); and a candy bar handset, the Ultra Edition 5.9 (U100).

Pros

Thinnest slider currently avaiable. Good feature set with 3.2 megapixel camera.

Cons

Size zero claimant misses out on 3.5mm headphone jack and a Xenon flash. No microSD card. No infrared.

Verdict

A straight down the middle slider handset which will appeal to the masses.

The Samsung U600 is part of the new Ultra Edition II range. Measuring an incredible 10.9mm, the Samsung U600 may be thin on size but it is not thin on features. Samsung have managed to incorporate a 3.2 megapixel camera, MP3 player and stereo Bluetooth support into U600. The Samsung U600 has embedded memory of 60MB which is expandable with the addition of a micro SD memory card. The TFT QVGA screen supports 256,000 colours and offers very sharp image presentation.
