Japan’s First IP-Based 3G HSDPA Radio Access Network

ASIA Japan : Huawei Technologies announced that, eMobile, an innovative mobile operator in Japan, has selected Huawei as a key 3G equipment supplier for the roll out of its new UMTS and High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) network.

Under the Framework Agreement signed with eMobile, Huawei will deploy Japan’s first-ever all IP-based HSDPA radio access network initially starting in several larger metropolitan areas such as Sendai and Sapporo, and will support the roll out of eMobile’s nationwide UMTS/HSDPA network in the upcoming years.

Huawei’s entrance into the Japanese market further solidifies Huawei's global leading position in UMTS and HSDPA infrastructure. One of the key innovations that Huawei is introducing as part of its all-IP radio access network is the UMTS new generation Node B, which incorporates new and innovative features, such as the high efficiency digital power amplifier supporting the multi-carrier technology, full–performance HSDPA and all-IP transmission solution. Huawei has accumulated extensive experience in the global deployments of its new generation UMTS Node Bs in countries and regions including Portugal, Poland, Malaysia, and Indonesia as well as Hong Kong.
