T-Mobile's 3G/HSDPA Covers 8 Cities in Hungary

10th July , 2006

Europe : T-Mobile’s mobile broadband (3G/HSDPA) service was also launched in Gyor and Szeged. The operator announced that T-Mobile subscribers in Hungary can use the Internet service within almost the whole of its 3G network - already covering 8 cities - at the speed of 1.5 Mbps.

The mobile broadband coverage of T-Mobile’s 3G/HSDPA - the company exclusively offering commercial HSDPA, which is the real mobile broadband service - increased significantly. Further to 3G services (e.g. Mobile TV, video telephony), T-Mobile’s subscribers can also use Internet services at 1.5 Mbps download speeds in the cities of Budapest, Debrecen, Pécs, Balatonfüred, Siófok, Balatonalmádi, Gyor and Szeged. Mobile broadband (3G/HSDPA) offered by T-Mobile can be equally used for browsing on the Internet, downloading larger video files or for high quality, continuous video transmission.

This year the largest Hungarian mobile operator increases its 3G network substantially, using the 3G network newly connected settlements will also have access to HSDPA. The company’s subscribers can only use the mobile broadband service - currently enabling 1.5 Mbps download speeds - with the compact HSDPA card phone offered by T-Mobile, which subscribers of the Net 1000 package can buy at the promotion price of HUF 0. The scope of mobile broadband (3G/HSDPA) tools will soon be extended by introducing Samsung Z560 and T-Mobile MDA Vario II, as well as the compact size HSDPA modem, which can be connected to home PCs via USB ports. In the coming 2 years T-Mobile multiplies data speeds available on its 3G/ HSDPA mobile broadband network by several times - planned to go up to 10 Mbps - while upload speeds may also reach 2 Mbps.
