| 3G UMTS and E-GPRS Test Cases Validated |
24th July 2003 |
Recently, on behalf of Racal Instruments, CETECOM validated the first UMTS RF test cases for the Racal Instruments UMTS RF Conformance Test Platform 6404 CTP-R. These test cases have now been unreservedly approved by the Global Certification Forum (GCF). The validation and GCF approval of these test cases are the signal for the market launch of a new Racal Instruments test platform that will fulfil the requirements of 3G mobiles and, based on the 3GPP specifications, cover the entire spectrum of RF conformance tests. At the same time, CETECOM has also validated the first UMTS protocol test cases for the Racal Instruments UMTS test system, 6401 AIME/CT. These have now also been approved by GCF. The successful cooperation between Racal Instruments and CETECOM is not, however, limited to the third generation of mobile communications. The test system provider is also making use of CETECOM’s validating competence in the GSM field. Recently, CETECOM also validated E-GPRS test cases for the Racal Instruments test platform, 6103 AIME/CT. GCF and PTCRB (PCS Type Certification Review Board) have also already approved these test cases. The Racal Instruments 6103 AIME/CT test system, which among other things enables GPRS/E-GPRS tests for GSM 850, will also soon be available to CETECOM customers: this test platform will soon be integrated into our test system equipment and linked to the worldwide web-based networking of all the CETECOM test centres via TOM (Testing, Organization and Management Database), which means that our customers will also be able to benefit from the advantages of TOM’s database-supported project and test system administration. CETECOM – a subsidiary of RWTÜV – is present in the USA and Asia as well as in Europe. The high-tech service provider has been offering engineering, consulting and development services internationally as well as testing, certification and type approval services for telecommunications, wireless and IT products for ten years, making it a competent partner anywhere in the world for manufacturers, distributors, service providers and network operators.
