| 3G Network Consultant |
|
16th July 2003 |
|
Applicable to all interfaces of GPRS, UMTS and CDMA2000 networks, the Network Consultant gathers and processes data from multiple server links from the Radio access network, Core signaling, and Core IP. It provides end-to-end call detail reporting (CDR) and enables full drill down capabilities of the IP session, voice calls and video. Addressing voice and data together, it monitors quality metrics on data paths by correlating signaling control path events to QoS levels. This means that vendors and operators can use the Network Consultant to perform cellular network component testing as well as full system testing. Using it, customers can zoom in and view the statistics and procedures on each interface separately, online and offline. The Network Consultant provides handover and roaming analysis; detects errors and abnormal session/call scenarios online; and supports H.324M. The Network Consultant covers R99/R4/R5 IOS 3.x and 4.x. Pertinent call and signaling information is dynamically displayed in an online pane according to the session/call path of various interfaces. This enables customers to view the call flow and end-to-end procedure times. "Essential to the successful deployment and management of next generation wireless services is the effective monitoring of networks to ensure that they are capable of delivering end-to-end QoS verification. This is particularly
important in today's market environment where successful subscriber
adoption for 2.5G and 3G services would strongly depend on them experiencing
the perceivable difference and positive benefits of these services over
existing wireless services", opines Frost & Sullivan Senior
Research Analyst, Jaidev Rammohan. "Subscribers of these enhanced
services are expected to pay comparatively higher With the information provided by the Network Consultant, operators can locate problematic cells with an eye to reallocating resources to prevent network performance degradation. Its ability to track and conduct end-to-end analysis of the session and service as experienced by the user makes the Network Consultant a powerful tool for operators during network installation and operation. Additionally, vendors will find it to be a valuable tool for product verification, new feature, regression and interoperability testing. |
