Improved 3G Test Solution

9th July 2003

Europe : RADCOM announced the addition of H.324M traffic analysis capability to its award-winning Cellular Performer. H.324M is an ITU standard commonly used in streaming media applications such as video on demand, video telephony and streaming music. The Cellular Performer is a comprehensive test solution suite with an integrated, proprietary Generic Analyzer Processor Chip that enables hardware-based, full-line rate analysis of 2.5 and 3G cellular network technologies.

Expansion of the Cellular Performer's decode and analysis capabilities to include H.324M means that customers can now analyze streaming media traffic inside the cellular network over ATM or WAN interfaces. Combined with the company's leading voice and video over IP test tools, the Cellular Performer's H.324M support enables RADCOM customers to conduct streaming media testing on both sides of the Media Gateway.

The importance of this testing is evidenced by OMNI Consulting Group LLP research, which shows that wireless carriers can impact the upper limits of their subscriber revenue base (SRB) by an increase of 11.8% through quality attenuation monitoring programs. Such programs include independent validation and verification (IV&V) measurement solutions.

RADCOM offers such a solution in the Cellular Performer. Used to perform validation, verification and interoperability testing of GPRS, EDGE, UMTS and CDMA2000 technologies, it facilitates deployment and ensures Quality of Service in the delivery of 2.5 and 3G multimedia services to the mobile market.

"The role of network quality has transcended basic voice features
with a real emphasis on data throughput rates and sustained media
integrity," said Frank J. Bernhard, advisory economist and managing
principal with OMNI Consulting Group LLP. "Quality represents an
economic dimension to wireless carriers, and the ability to attain
marginal revenue growth hinges on predictable and reliable test
methods."
