3G Mobile Users Surge

ASIA : Japn's KDDI reported over 525,000 new subscribers for its 3G service which uses the "au" phones bringing its 3G subscriber total to over 8.5 Million.

The information further confirms the shift in Japan from 2G to 3G networks. On the other hand KDDI had over 340,000 less for its 2G service which was expected as a result of the migration to 3G.

The data supplied by KDDI outlines strong growth with 14.6 Million 2G and 3G subscribers up till now.

A study by KDDI also shows that 50% of 3G video phone subscribers users have sent video messages 2 or 3 times a week and 10% sending video messages every day.

In conclusion, KDDI had an increase of some 175,000 lifting its all inclusive subscriber base to 18.4 million.
