We've been waiting to hear about the BBC's iPlayer app for some time now, it's been talked about for around a year. The BBC iPlayer app would be launched for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
There now appears to be some light at the end of the tunnel, as Paid Content reports the issue which was holding it up now seems to have been resolved.
The app is scheduled to be ready before the end of February. This coincides with the departure of the BBC's director of future media and technology, David Huggers. He leaves for Intel at that time.
Meanwhile, the web version will work on the iPhone and iPad but it can be a struggle and of course the purpose built BBC iPlayer app for iPad and iPhone will make it a breeze.
The BlackBerry app for iPayer has been available since November and works with a number of the company's smartphones.
We are looking forward to seeing what exactly the BBC iPlayer app for iPad and iPhone will offer and will be sure to post it here at 3G. Android users will need to hang on as no news is forthcoming for them.
