US : Unity Wireless announced that it has received a purchase order for 3G multi-carrier power amplifiers that utilize Unity Wireless' proprietary efficiency enhancement technology. The power amplifiers will be evaluated in a second phase of product qualification for a 3G base station configuration that is being developed by the customer, a Japanese tier-one original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and developer of communications solutions and information technology products.

Ilan Kenig, President and CEO of Unity Wireless, commented, "This order represents two significant milestones in our business development strategy. It supports our decision to develop 'greener' technology that improves the energy efficiency of power amplifiers and is beneficial both commercially and environmentally. It is also a milestone that our first penetration into this new market is to a leading Japanese base station manufacturer that traditionally focuses on local supply."

Power amplifiers used in commercial wireless network base stations are typically inefficient in power consumption. Improvements in energy efficiency can translate into meaningful financial savings to a network that operates this equipment 24/7.
