ASIA : NTT DoCoMo has confirmed that its subscribers to its FOMA 3G mobile service surpassed the nine million level on 20th January, 2005.

NTT DoCoMo started its FOMA service in October 2001. The number of subscribers reached key milestones as shown below.

July 20, 2004 : 3G FOMA Subscribers Top Five Million

The number of subscribers to DoCoMo's 3G FOMA service surpassed the five million mark in less time than it took to make the leap from three to four million subscribers at the end of May 2004.

March 31, 2004 : 3G FOMA Subscribers Top 3 Million

NTT DoCoMo announced that subscribers to DoCoMo's FOMA 3G mobile service surpassed the three million mark, two months after reaching two million. The figure goes far beyond NTT DoCoMo's targeted figure of 2.4 million subscribers for fiscal 2003.

October 1, 2003 : 3G FOMA Subscribers Top 1 Million

NTT DoCoMo announced that the number of subscribers to the 3G FOMA service nationwide passed the 1 million mark, two years after launch of the service.
