The test centre in Paris is also positive to the results, which show a definite improvement in the performance of the product that enhances user experience when 3G is used. “Mobeon mPIM is a good example to the industry of an application that really demonstrates the value of the current and the next generation of mobile telephone networks. The tests illustrate that 3G provides substantial improvements in data transmission rates which increase on average by between 3 and 5 times,” says Jan Morath, Vice President at Mobeon and responsible for the tests. The difference between using GPRS and 3G to log on to the mPIM application from a telephone or PDA was 3 seconds for GPRS and 1 second for 3G. This is equivalent to changing over from a slow Internet connection via a modem to using broadband. With a quicker connection and shorter response times, the user experience will be radically improved. Mobeon's products have also been tested at Ericsson's test lab for 3G, and will be distributed with all the 3G deliveries Ericsson will be providing to its customers. |
